William Bassett

BASSETT, WILLIAM R.Age 87, a resident of Albuquerque since 1983 after moving from Tempe, Arizona passed away on August 29, 2012 at his home. Bill was a U.S. Navy Veteran serving with the Sea Bee's at the conclusion of World War II. He was a lifelong truck driver and Teamster member known by this handle of "Six Bits" In his long career he drove for Sharp, ICX and ABF. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Lee Bassett and is survived by his three children, Jeff Bassett of Colorado Springs, Greg Bassett of Phoenix, Arizona and Julie Cordova of Albuquerque. He had 10 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He was a devoted husband and father and will be best remembered for his humor and his tales of the road. He will be laid to rest on September 28, 2012 with full U.S. Navy honors at the Santa Fe National Cemetery, 501 North Guadalupe Street, Santa Fe, NM 87501 at 2:15 p.m. A beer will be had in his honor later that afternoon.
