Whilmeta Pauline Jack, age 96, a loving devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and wife, crossed over June 21, 2018. After growing up on a farm outside of Dongola, Illinois, Whilmeta attended Saint Mary’s Hospital School of Nursing in Cairo, Illinois, and received her Diploma in October, 1943. She joined the Navy and obtained the rank of Lieutenant (junior grade). Whilmeta served as a Navy nurse in Boston, MA, and San Diego, CA, and received an Honorable Discharge in 1953.
After moving to Albuquerque, NM, she met the love of her life, Alexander Jack, and they were married in 1948. Whilmeta worked as an operating room nurse for 35 years in two Albuquerque hospitals before retiring to care for her husband before his death in 1994. She enjoyed quilting and gardening. She is survived by her son, Bruce Jack, and wife, Dolores Welk-Jack; daughter, Deborah Inman; grandchildren, Elissa Nichols and husband, Jason Nichols, Daniel Jack, Jessica Inman, Jake Inman, Cassandra Bezyack and husband, Karl, Alexander Jack, Kristen Pogan and husband, Jamie, Daniel Stubbs and wife, Jaclynn (Aje); great-grandchildren, Jaxon and Ryder Bezyack. She also leaves many cherished relatives of all ages. Whilmeta joins all of her family that crossed before her.
A visitation will be held Thursday, July 5, 2018, from 6-8 p.m., at FRENCH – Wyoming. Funeral Services will be held Friday, July 6, 2018, 10:00 a.m., at FRENCH – Wyoming. Graveside Services will follow at 2:15 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
