Wendell Don Nicholson
Born July 24, 1950 in Crosbyton, Texas. Passed from this life July 25, 2024 in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Wendell was preceded in death by his father and mother, Don and Mildred Nicholson. He is survived by his wife Shelia Nicholson, his sister Neta Tuggle and her husband, Clifton, of New Home, TX, his son Nathan Nicholson and wife, Nessa of Cortez, CO, his daughter Donna Worley and her husband Roy of Albuquerque, NM, grandchildren Austin Worley of Lubbock, TX, Mikaela Greer and her husband Michael of Alamogordo, NM, Bryce Worley and his wife Jubilee of Lubbock, TX, and Cole Nicholson of Cortez, CO, as well as a great grandson, Morgan Greer, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews - all of whom meant the world to him. He loved his family!
Wendell served as an elder for the Northeast church of Christ in Albuquerque, New Mexico, as well as, previously serving as an elder for the Gallup church of Christ in Gallup, New Mexico. He was a veteran, having served in the United States National Guard. Wendell assisted his father in starting Gallup Propane Service over 50 years ago and along the way opened Country Gas in additional locations.
Besides being a leader in the church and a successful business man, Wendell was an extremely generous person giving to any and all in need, especially veteran organizations (including Run for the Wall), Christian children's homes (including Albuquerque Christian Children's Home and Manuelito Navajo Children's Home), and Christian schools and camps where kids can grow closer to God (including Gallup Christian School, Four Corners Encampment, and Ponderosa Christian Camp). In lieu of flowers, friends and family are encouraged to give to any of these organizations or the charity of your choice in his honor.
A celebration of Wendell's life will take place on Saturday, August 3, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at Northeast Church of Christ in Albuquerque, NM to be followed by a graveside service in Post, TX on Monday, August 5, 2024.
