Wayne Eugene McIntosh

October 6, 1929 — February 15, 2018

Wayne Eugene McIntosh, 88, of Albuquerque, NM, passed away, Thursday, February 15, 2018 in his apartment. Wayne was born October 6, 1929 in Chicago, IL to John and Dorothy (Campbell) McIntosh.

Wayne is survived by five children, Wayne, Julia, Susan, Stacy and Scott; grandchildren, Anastasia, Samuel, Joseph, Sarah, Peter and Mark; his brother and sister-in-law, Floyd and Peggy McIntosh; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Dorothy; and his wife, Hazel.

He went to high school in McAllen, Texas and enlisted in the Navy after his senior year.  Subsequent to his honorable discharge, Wayne attended the University of Texas at Austin, graduating with a B.S. in Geology. Shortly after graduation, Wayne began working for the Army Corps of Engineers.  He worked principally in designing and building major water control projects, specializing in dams.  After working in Texas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico, Wayne worked in the Office of the Chief of Engineers in Washington D.C., which included reviewing projects nationwide.  He returned to Texas to work as as a Division Chief in Fort Worth, where he concluded his Corps career.  After retiring from the Corps, Wayne continued to consult in many government projects as a contractor.  Wayne enjoyed traveling with his wife, Hazel, and being with family in his retirement.  Friends and family across the country looked forward to their visits.  Wayne's good cheer, humor, and devotion to friends and family will be missed.

A Memorial Service will be held Friday, March 2, 2018, 1:00 p.m., at Sandia Presbyterian Church, 10704 Paseo Del Norte NE, Albuquerque, NM 87122.
