It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our husband and father, Wayne Hargrove, age 90, on January 12, 2019.
He is survived by his loving wife, Connie and his children, Bruce Hargrove and Chris Hargrove of Albuquerque and his daughter, Susan Hargrove Boelman of Mission Viejo, California; his sister, Eloise of Hico, Texas; and many nephews and nieces.
Wayne was born in Carnegie, Oklahoma on October 22, 1928 and lived there until the family moved to Dallas, Texas. Wayne served in the Air Force and was stationed in England and Germany. He was later stationed at Hill Air Force Base outside of Ogden, Utah and met his wife, Connie there. They were married in Ogden in 1953. He moved to Dallas with his wife that year and was discharged from the Air Force. He worked at Chance Vought Aircraft until moving to Albuquerque in 1960. Wayne sold Real Estate for Sproul Homes for a number of years and later had his own Real Estate Firm. Later he entered radio sales at KRZY, KDEF and KRQE.
He was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing. But after many years he had back problems and had an operation which stopped his golfing. His father, George and mother, Judy and one sister, Juanita McConnell plus two brothers, George and Richard Hargrove preceded him in death.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date to be announced.
In his honor, the family has requested donations to the University of New Mexico’s Comprehensive Cancer Center’s General Support Fund. Gifts can be made – noting in memory of Mr. Hargrove – online at cancer.unm.edu/giving or by check payable to UNM Foundation sent to UNM comprehensive Cancer Center, Development Office, MSC07 4025, 1201 Camino de Salud NE, Albuquerque, NM 87131-0001. His son, Chris has had cancer twice and is now cancer free.
