Warren H. Rooks Sr.

Warren H. Rooks, Sr. (Poppa) 85, passed away at his home in Albuquerque, NM on Tuesday, April 24, 2018 and was reunited with his beloved wife of 56 years, Etta M. Mayo-Rooks who predeceased him in 2012.

Warren was born on January 29, 1933 in New York City, NY to the late Wilbert H. Rooks Sr. and Sophie L. Roberts.

Warren proudly served in the United States Marine Corps for 28 years before retiring as a Captain in 1979. After retiring from the military he owned and operated a local business, Mercury Lock and Key for 28 years.

Family was Warren's top priority and in his spare time he was an avid reader and enjoyed reading about U.S. History and Military History. He enjoyed collecting classic model cars, coins and stamps and enjoyed studying the diverse cultures around him through reading and traveling.

He leaves to cherish his memories, one son, Warren H. Rooks Jr. and daughter, Stephanie L. (Rooks) Williams; grandchildren, Jonathan T. Williams and Sierra N. Rooks; brothers, Walter H. Rooks and Washington (Herbie) H. Rooks; and leaves behind a host of cherished nephews, neices and friends.

Warren was preceded in death by his brothers, Wilbert Jr., William (Billy);  and  sisters, Mildred, Miriam, Marion, Myrna and long time friend L.A. Starks.

Special thanks are extended to Alliance Home Hospice staff for their compassionate care  provided for Warren and his family.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, May 25, 2018, 11:30 a.m. with a reception at 12:30 p.m. at FRENCH - Lomas.  Interment will follow 3:00 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
