Wanita J. Grainger, 94, a resident of Albuquerque since 1966, passed away on November 16, 2015. She was born in Indiana on October 27, 1921. She graduated from Moody Bible Institute and received an AB degree from Taylor University in Indiana. After moving to New Mexico she then moved to Arizona and earned her Master's degree in education from NAU in Flagstaff.
In 1952, Wanita had her visa, planning to go to the Philippine Islands to teach missionary children, but her health prevented it. She then came west to teach Navajo children at a mission south of Gallup. She also taught in Kayenta, AZ until she married R. Lee Grainger, who was a friend of Bible school days. He preceded her in death in September 1993.
She is survived by her sister-in-law, LaDene Sheagly of Avon, IN; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and many friends, including Dr. Susan Cutler.
Wanita dearly loved helping children who were "late bloomers" to excel in school. She tutored in her home for many years after retirement. She was a longtime member of Faith Bible church.
