Wanda Zellner

December 25, 1921 — March 13, 2013

Wanda was born on Christmas Day, 1921 to Lora and Marvin Bowden in Morris, OK. She grew up in Oklahoma, and, following her dream to become a teacher, graduated from Northeastern State Teacher's College at Tahlequah, OK. She loved teaching and taught for 33 years, retiring from APS in 1977. She was proud to be invited to join Pi Lambda Theta, an educational honorary society. She never tired of teaching or of learning. Wanda married Milton Zellner and they raised three children through a wonderful and loving life of over 50 years together. Wanda and Milton loved to travel in their motor home, putting over 100,000 miles on their RV, enjoying each other and the sites and cities of the United States and Canada, from the plantations of the South to the North Pole. A sense of humor, a lust for life and her voracious need for knowledge gave her personality charm and made her interesting. She enjoyed reading, journaling, genealogy, and studying her Muskogee Creek heritage. She showed interest in people and never forgot a thank you note or a phone call when needed. She was a good wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She lived with dignity and grace. Wanda will be missed! Wanda is survived by her son, Wayne Zellner and wife Donna; daughter, Linda Zellner; sister, Joyce Scroggins and her family; grandsons, Brian Leslie and wife Paula, Wayne Zellner II and wife Amee, Craig Zellner and wife Annie; five great-grandchildren; and also by special friends, Jessie and Kay Beason. She was preceded in death by her husband, Milton; and her daughter, Karen Arthur. The family wishes to thank Zannetta Williams at Elmcroft for her loving care as well as the service and compassion of the Ambercare Hospice. Services will be held Monday, March 18, 2013, 11:00 a.m., at FRENCH - Wyoming. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations to the American Cancer Society, 10501 Montgomery Blvd. NE, Suite 300, Albuquerque, NM 87111.
