DUDLEY, WANDA EUNICE BEVINS After 92 years of independent, active life on this earth, Wanda was peacefully reunited with her late husband, Robert A. Dudley (Bob). She passed away surrounded by loving family members on March 12, 2014. Born on March 25, 1922 to Ruth Morgan and Earle Payne Bevins in Georgia Center, Vermont. Wanda grew up with an only sister, the late Norma Avis Bevins Hand, and attended the University of Vermont. She married in 1941 and moved to Arlington, Virginia where she lived for 13 years. In 1954, the Dudleys moved to Albuquerque where Bob and Wanda remained until their deaths. Still high-kicking and now filled with vivid memories and decades of love, are the five, cherished Dudley children and their spouses, Lynne and Joe Entrekin, Dale and Jim McManus, Wendy and Richard Shanahan, Bob and Debbie Dudley, and Kim and Michael Dickel. Also 11 beloved grandchildren and their spouses, Allen and Debra, Andy and Jerrilyn, Esther and Leroy, Ben and Laurie, Brad, Christy and Will, Heather and Sam, Grant, Bob and Kaitlin, Lauren and Alex; and 10 delightful great-grandchildren, Shea, Josh, Cole, Sam, Morrow, Katie, Savannah, Lindsey, Sophie and Lily. Wanda will be remembered as a self-sufficient, strong-spirited, compassionate, honest, hard worker. She held a position in the Pentagon after her marriage, sold Avon products for over 60 years, and worked at the University of New Mexico in the Registrar's Office until retirement on July 13, 1982. Her strong work ethic and high commitment to group membership made her a valued asset to the Eastern Star, Beta Sigma Phi, the Mayflower Society, The Daughters of the Nile, and the Jamestown Society (in each of which she participated for over 50 years and held numerous local and state leadership roles, including President/Governor.) An avid bowler, bicyclist, world-wide traveler, award-winning cook and baker, gardener, poet, lover of competition and games and a lifelong reader, Wanda could converse with anyone. Wanda was a steadfast believer and practitioner of volunteerism. She supported innumerable worthy causes with funds and active, regular service throughout her life. She helped in the public schools, with national health drives, in hospitals, the Leslie Park Neighborhood Association and read/recorded for The Commission for the Blind but her most satisfying efforts were the past 30 years (until February 2014) at the Erna Fergusson Public Library. She loved her twice-weekly work behind - the - scenes as well as interaction with patrons seeking assistance. In June 2012 she was honored as Library Volunteer of the Year after 29 years of service.
