Walter K. Waconda

WACONDA, WALTER, K. Age 85, originally from Laguna Pueblo went to be with our Lord on Monday, March 31, 2014. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Thelma Waconda; son, Alan Waconda both of Albuquerque; sister, Ida Kiro of Gallup; and special nieces, Patricia Abeita and her daughters Amy Jiron, Catherine Abeita and Maureen Abeita, Karen Waconda-Lewis and her daughter, Camille Waconda who helped care for him; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Mr. Waconda served in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict. Walter worked as a Personnel Management Specialist for the Indian Health Service. He and Thelma were members at First Baptist Church of West Albuquerque. His life will be celebrated on Monday, April 7 at 9:00 am at First Baptist Church of West Albuquerque, 6400 Golf Course Road NW with Pastor Adam Hughes, officiating. Interment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 12:45 pm. Pallbearers will be John Waconda, Jr., Lawrence Waconda, David Ramirez, David Baldridge, Royce Waconda, and Michael Trujillo MD. Friends may visit FRENCH - University on Sunday, April 6, 2014 from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Baptist Church of West Albuquerque.
