Vito Anthony Yulo

YULO, Vito Anthony Passed away at his home Monday, March 3, 2014, with his wife by his side, after a long struggle with Alzheimer's Disease. He will be greatly missed... always to be loved and never, ever forgotten. Vito was born February 10, 1928, in New York City. A first generation Italian-American, he was the second son to his loving parents, Raphael and Elena Yulo. His parents immigrated to America from Pietrapertosa, Italy. Vito was a seven year resident of Albuquerque, NM. He previously resided for 28 years in Las Vegas, Nevada after moving from New York City. He served in the U.S. Army near the end of WWII and was stationed in Japan during the U.S. Occupation. He attended NYU and was an electrical engineer throughout his career. He could fix absolutely anything and solve many problems. He had a soft heart, knew how to have a good time, loved to travel, experience new adventures, gaming at casinos, and would lend a helping hand to those in need. Vito was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Carlo Yulo; sister-in-law, Kitty Yulo; his loving sister, Rose Yulo L'Insalata; his brother-in-law, Bruno L'Insalata; and his cousin, Father Joseph Latella, S.J. He is survived by his wife, Melinda Vavra; family, George and Emily Vavra, Curtiss Vavra, Keith Flowers, and Margaret Davis, all of Albuquerque, NM. He is also survived by his son, Ralph Yulo and daughter-in-law, Debbie Yulo of Brookfield, Connecticut; daughter, Elaine Miller of Oceanside, New York; daughter, Rosanne Vertichio of Bellport, New York; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; cousin, Gloria Lafferty of Staten Island, NY; nephews and their families, James L'Insalata of Rutherford, New Jersey, John L'Insalata of Staten Island, New York, Robert L'Insalata of Plainsboro, New Jersey, and Richard L'Insalata of Staten Island, New York. A private interment service was held at Sunset Memorial Park in Albuquerque.
