Virginia Romero, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on December 26, 2021 at the age of 92. She was proceeded in death by her parents, Tomas and Mercedes Lucero; three sisters; three brothers; and numerous family members.
Virginia was born in Cedarvale, NM on January 12, 1929 and lived in Santa Fe and Albuquerque. She married her Estancia High School sweetheart, Margarito Romero in Mountainair, NM and was married for 74 years. She is survived by her husband Margarito, their sons and their spouses, Amos and Margaret, Alfonso and Patsy, Arthur and Cindy, Anthony and Barbara, Adrian and Judy; and Virginia’s sister, Isabel Bessie Torres. Virginia had 15 grandchildren, their spouses and 23 great-grandchildren.
Virginia was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend who was dedicated to her family, friends the Lord and prayer. She was a long-time member of Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church and was the Spanish Choir Director for over 40 years. She cared for everyone she ever met and lived unselfishly. She will be missed by all.
A viewing/visitation will be held on Thursday, January 13, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at FRENCH – Lomas. The Celebration of Life Rosary and Mass will be held on Friday, January 14, 2022, 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church, Lomas and Tennessee. Graveside service will be held following the rosary and mass at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 7999 Wyoming Blvd NE.
