Virginia Lujan

Virginia Lujan, 90, a resident of Albuquerque, NM passed away in her home on the morning of June 13, 2024, succumbing to congestive heart failure and has now joined our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Virginia was a lifelong Catholic and proud mother to four children. Virginia was born on July 30, 1933 in Las Vegas, NM to the late Maximiliano de Aragon & Cleofas Sanchez. Virginia spent her life in both Las Vegas and Albuquerque, NM. She attended college at St. Joseph in Albuquerque, NM. 

Virginia was strong and resilient, a fighter until the end who enjoyed life at home. She was a housewife and homemaker for most of her life but worked as a bookkeeper before she was married and worked when she had too as an Educational Assistant and in several retail stores later in her life. Virginia enjoyed baking, making fresh bread and tortillas. She also loved to crochet and created many ceramic pottery pieces. These are fondly lasting memories which we will never forget. While our hearts mourn her loss, we take comfort in knowing she is no longer suffering. 

She was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Frank Lujan Jr. on June 8, 1998. Virginia is survived by children Frank, Cathy (Ralph), and John of Albuquerque and Paul (Craig) of Santa Fe. She was also the grandmother to 4 grandchildren, Heather, Nolan, Jennifer and Nathan. She is survived by her brothers, Max and Raymond de Aragon.

A Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, July 11, 2024 at 11:00 am with a rosary preceding at 10:30 am in the chapel at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi, 131 Cathedral Place, Santa Fe, NM 87501. Burial will take place at the National Cemetery at 2:00 pm. Reception will follow the burial at the home of Paul Lujan in Santa Fe.
