Virginia Junick

On April 11, 2025, Virginia Junick received her wings and went to walk with the angels. She was 80 years old.

Virginia was born on January 31st, 1945 in Durango, Mexico. Virginia attended and graduated from Albuquerque High School. She met her husband while working at a local grocery store, Gulf Mart. Virginia enjoyed traveling with him and attending hockey games. She loved to spend time and teach new tricks with cheese to her dogs Coco, Harper and Gabby.

Virginia loved to garden, do puzzles, quilt, play bingo, watch her novels and shop. Her greatest joy was spending countless hours at flower nurseries. Virginia's most memorable catchphrase was "Dave will pay for it." Virginia was devoted to her faith.

Virginia was a dedicated mother and wife first and foremost. She especially loved her role as a Grandma. She treasured her children and grandchildren and embraced every moment with them. She had a contagious personality and always made people around her laugh. She made friends everywhere she went.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, Soledad and Clefos Garcia; and in-laws, William and Pearl Junick.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 57 years, David Junick Sr.; her two children, David Junick Jr. and partner, Aaron Gallegos and Victoria and husband, Michael Gonzales Sr.; four grandchildren, Crystal Gonzales, Anhelica and husband, Joshua Ponder, Michael Gonzales Jr. and wife, Abraxas, and Desarae Gonzales and partner, Christopher Martinez; nine great-grandchildren, Alyana, Angelo, Daniel, Avalynn, Michael III, Adonis, Sophia, and Abigail; her sister, Rosa Garcia; three brothers and sisters-in-law; and numerous nephews and nieces.

Vriginia will be laid to rest on Friday, May 9, 2025, at Santa Fe National Cemetery. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, May 10, 2025, 1:00 p.m., at Lighthouse Baptist Church, 4001 12th Street NW.
