Viola Rollman

July 20, 1926 — December 29, 2022

Viola Rollman, age 96, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, December 29, 2022. She is survived by her 5 children: Kristin, Marcia, Michael, James, and Laura and by her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Virginia Rogowski, nee Hanneman, of Wisconsin.

Viola was born in 1926 in Racine, WI. She married her husband, Roy, in 1944. During WWII, she followed Roy to Washington State where she worked as a housekeeper while he went through basic training. After Roy shipped out to the Pacific Theater, Viola returned to West Allis, WI, and worked as a translator in the Allis Chalmers factory there.

After the war, Viola became a homemaker and mother. She loved animals; her favorites were penguins, giraffes, and songbirds. She was a prolific reader and enjoyed such diverse genres as physics, politics, thrillers, and historical novels. She passed this love of nature and reading on to her children. She loved to travel, and she enjoyed hiking and ice skating in her younger years. She also enjoyed working on word puzzles and was very ____ at solving them. (Hint: 4 letter word that means skillful).

Viola lived in Wisconsin, Colorado, South Carolina, and New Mexico. She loved the skies in New Mexico, the culture diversity here and the food. We, and New Mexico, will miss her terribly.
