Viola Alexander

June 14, 1914 — June 18, 2018

Viola Carolina, 104, a resident of Albuquerque since 1970, went to be with the Lord and her husband Monday, June 18, 2018.

She was born in Chicago, IL, and lived in that area with her husband, William “Paul,” until they moved to Albuquerque in 1970. She and her husband, “Paul” were married for 71 years prior to his passing in 2003. She was the loving mother of three sons, Norman Paul, Robert Lewis and Kenneth John; grandmother to eight grandchildren, Linda, Laura, Lisa, Scott, Gregory, Randall, Debbie and John; numerous great and great-great grandchildren. She was called the “rock of the family” by her brother-in-law, Frank, prior to his passing in 2014.

She lived through the great flu epidemic of 1918 by caring for patients with her mother, never getting sick. She lived through the prohibition years in Chicago, the great depression and WWII. Her body was weak but her mind was alert, and she had a lot of history until the end.

She will be greatly missed by her family and all who had the privilege to know her. Services were held privately for the family on Saturday June 23, 2018 at FRENCH-Wyoming. She was interred with her husband at Sandia Memorial Gardens that day.
