Vickie Haines, age 77, was called home to heaven in March 2021 after a long battle with Dementia. She was born in Dayton Ohio in July 1943 and raised in West Milton. Vickie graduated from Tecumseh High School in New Carlisle, Ohio in 1961, then married her best friend and love of her life, Jesse Haines in December 1962. Vickie and Jesse shared their love story for 58 years.
Vickie worked various Jobs throughout her life. She worked as a bank teller in New Carlisle, Ohio, then she became a sub-contractor building circuit boards for Laserplane Corporation. In 1977 she and Jesse moved the family to Grand Junction Colorado and opened up Big Red Q Quick Print. Vickie enjoyed working as an administrative assistant in several different churches where she and Jesse attended over the years.
However, her most rewarding work was as a wife, Mom and Nana. She loved playing the marimba with her sister, Bettie. Spending time with all her family, gathering with friends, playing games, traveling, staying fit, riding her bike, playing tennis, snow skiing, cooking healthy, colorful meals, and she loved a hot cup of Starbucks coffee.
Vickie loved people! She never met a stranger and touched many lives over the years with her vivacious personality. Even in the last 2 1/2 years while she resided at Good Samaritan Village in Grants, NM, she became known as the "resident wanderer," sharing her fun-loving personality with the staff and residents.
Loved ones waiting to welcome Vickie into heaven are her parents, Floyd and Margaret Rhoades, sister Connie Niles, nephew and niece Mark and Barb Niles, and many other friends and family. Vickie is the sister of Bettie Penry and husband Phil. She is a loving Mom to son Kraig Haines and his wife Cindy, daughter Kara Haines-Wood and her husband Randy. She was Nana to 8 precious grandchildren, Steph Georges and her husband Adam, Zach Haines, Austin Foster, Cory Haines, Dylan Haines, Adam, Lizzy and Noah Fillman. She also is blessed to have 4 beautiful great-grandchildren, Jacob Georges, Olivia Haines, Madison Georges, and Nora Haines. Vickie had many precious nieces, nephews, and in-laws that she loved dearly and shared many fond memories of time together.
There will be a celebration of life to be held at a later date.
