Savage-McBride, V. Marie Hear, O heavens, and give ear, O earth, the spirit of Vesta Marie Savage-McBride departed this world, with her son, Greg Savage at her bedside, at 6:45am on Tuesday, February 4, 2014, in Room 487 of the Intermediate Care Unit, on the 4th floor of the Presbyterian Hospital at 1100 Central Ave SE in Albuquerque, New Mexico, in the United States of America, on the Planet Earth, in the Milky Way Galaxy of God's Creation. Marie was born September 1, 1923 and walked the earth for 90 years. She was born in Erick, Oklahoma in Beckham County to Allie Monroe Hill (born December 8, 1887) and Gertrude Alma Cantwell (born October 16, 1896) of the Lone Star state of Texas and lived on a farm the early part of her life. Marie had a brother, Bud Hill, and a sister, Pearlee Grayson, who are now deceased. She married and later divorced Dalton Wilson Savage (born January 1, 1923; deceased March 19, 1985) of Fredrick, Oklahoma and they had three children: Richard Don Savage (born February 15, 1947), Greg Randall Savage (born August 1, 1950) and Monte Rene Savage (born January 9, 1955; deceased June 6, 1956). Dalton and Marie moved to Albuquerque in the early 1950's, so Dalton, her husband, could work at Sandia National Laboratories. She was married to James Gray McBride from August 1982 until his death on March 16, 1985. James was a store manager and retired from JC Penney in Santa Fe. Marie is survived by her children, Greg Savage and Richard Savage and his wife, Gail Ann Savage; her grandchildren, Ashlee Renee Savage from Texas, and Seneca Reed Savage and his wife, Vanda Marie Savage from Albuquerque; her great-grandchildren, Cameron Reed Savage (age 13), Casey Jackson Savage (age 11), Julia Rose Savage (age 8), Lily Tyler Savage (age 5) and a new great-grandbaby that Ashlee expects in May; and her nephew, Robert Hill from Texas. Marie was diagnosed with Alzheimer's in November 2006, after a severe auto accident. Marie lived with her son, Greg Savage in Albuquerque from 2007 until her death in 2014. She passed away as a result of Respiratory Failure, Aspiration Pneumonia, and after contracting a Methicillin Sensitive Staphylococcus Aureus (MSSA) bloodstream infection from skin bacteria. Marie was an office manager for Ted Van Soelen Realtors, an admissions director for the Four Seasons Nursing Home and a sales manager for AT&T. She liked Country-Western dancing and music. Marie was a Protestant and enjoyed bible studies taught from a Hebraic perspective. She occasionally attended the Living Church of God and Adat Yeshua. She collected news articles and newspaper clippings about the assassinations of John Kennedy and Robert Kennedy and the NASA space flights and moon landings. Marie loved animals and had many pet companions (dogs) throughout her life. She was an excellent cook and known for her gravy. Marie was interested in holistic medicine, natural healing and liked to read newsletters published by holistic doctors. She liked to wear Indian jewelry. Marie liked to watch YouTube videos on biblical topics, such as the lost ten tribes of the House of Israel, the names of God, and Bible prophecy, and to listen to old songs found on the Internet. She liked garden and grow vegetables. Marie regularly attended the Share Your Care Adult Day Care at the Barelas Senior Center. She was characterized by those that knew her as a social butterfly. She loved to make new friends. Marie liked to sit on the front porch and watch the world go by. Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2014 at 5:00 pm at the South West Living Church of God, located at the Best Western Executive Suites, 4630 Pan American Freeway NE in Albuquerque.
