Veronica, age 95, a resident of Isleta Pueblo since 1925. She passed away at her home Wednesday, January, 13, 2021.
She was the daughter of the late Paul Shattuck Sr. and late Beatrice Abeita Shattuck. She is survived by her nephew, Woodrow P. Shattuck; nieces, Paula M. Shattuck-Hebner, Beatrice D. Vallo (Shattuck), Johnnie Wardlow; grand-nephews and nieces, Wayne Shattuck, Teresa Shattuck, Laura Wells (Shattuck), Mallory Shattuck, Joanna Shattuck, LaTawnya Shattuck, Derek Shattuck, Ashlee Belin, Kaleigh Belin, David Belin V, Joaquin Vallo; several great-grand nieces and nephews; and cousin, Georgia Pedro.
Mrs. Chapman was preceded in death by her siblings, sister, Agnes Dill (Shattuck); brother, August Shattuck; sister, Isadora Sarracino (Shattuck), sister, Romalda Shattuck, brother, Joseph Shattuck, brother, Paul Shattuck Jr.; and nephew, Joseph E. Shattuck.
Organization memberships include: North American Indian Women’s Association (NAIWA)member since 1971: Attended almost all conferences during 50 year history of the organization for both the Isleta and New Mexico Chapters and served in various officer positions; participated in numerous volunteer and social projects/activities, New Mexico Indian Council on Aging-member, Isleta Elder Advisory Committee, Isleta Pueblo Senior Olympics-competed in Country Western Line Dancing at local and NM State Senior Olympics; made costumes for the dance group, Elks Club, Albuquerque, NM. She provided many years of dedicated service at the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center.
Veronica was well loved by her family and friends. She always showed her kindness, care, and hospitality to all who knew her and visited with her. She showered her nieces and nephews with much love and generosity. She and her sisters, Agnes “Aggie,” Isadora “Izzy” and Romalda “Ru”, were always seen together at most local gatherings, organizational meetings and community celebrations. Many folks thought they were two sets of twins or would comment, “The Shattuck’s are coming!!”
Veronica was always ready to travel to see many parts of the country to visit family, friends or just to vacation. She was talented with her sewing skills and enjoyed participating and teaching line dancing. Her warm and friendly smile will be missed!
The Shattuck family’s generosity reached many Native American Highland University students pursuing a degree in Education through their endowment gift.

A graveside service will take place at approximately 3:30 on Saturday, January 16 2021 the Isleta Pueblo Cemetery. All are welcome but are strictly to adhere to proper facemask and 6 feet social distancing.
