Vernon Mack "Tim" Ward, of Rio Rancho New Mexico passed away on March 19, 2025, at the age of 87. Tim was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico on April 24, 1937. Although he lived several years in Chandler and Gilbert Arizona he always considered himself a native New Mexican.

His greatest joy was his family. He is survived by his wife Christine Ward, daughters Kim Sugg (Greg Scantlen), Carla Aguilar (Ben Aguilar) and Karyn Rockwell. Beloved "Papa" to his grandchildren Ben Sugg (Savannah), Alex Sugg (Jayne), Jason Aguilar, Alyssa Tanny (Michael), Christopher Eklund, Kaylie Romero (Adam), Ashley Meador (Waylon) and 5 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his nieces Peggy Ault (Doug) and Vallerie White.

He was preceded in death by his parents Claude Ward, Ruby Cline, stepfather Eugene Cline, sister Virginia Ridgway and stepson Erick Eklund.

After graduating from Albuquerque High School, Tim joined the United States Marine Corp serving the majority of his enlistment in Okinawa. Returning to Albuquerque after his service he worked for many years as a printer for the Albuquerque Journal. Tim retired as a driver from Yellow Freight Company in 2002. He was a member of the CWA/ITU and Teamsters Local 492. His gregarious personality, epic story telling and hard work led to several successful sales and business endeavors throughout the years. He made friends wherever he went and never hesitated to lend a helping hand. A favorite hobby was woodworking and the family possesses many pieces of his work that we hope will carry through generations.

Throughout his adult life Tim studied Kojosho Karate. He was a member of Mesa Lodge 68 AF & AM and Ballut Abyad Shrine.

Graveside services for Tim will be held Friday, April 25, 2025, 10:30 am at Santa Fe National Cemetery in Santa Fe, NM.

In lieu of flowers, donations to your preferred Veteran's cause or charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.
