Verlene Slease

Verlene Slease, 90 years of age, passed away on April 12, 2018. She lived most of her adult life in Santa Fe where she worked, raised her family, and was a devoted member of our Lady of Guadalupe Church. Verlene was preceded in death by her parents Francesco and Elena Cherubini, and her daughter Cathy Overdorf. She leaves her loving family which includes daughter Becky Martinez (Ken), son Bill Slease (JoAnn Silveri), son-in-law Rick Overdorf, sister Celeste Cherubini, sister Angie Milkovich (Ed).

Verlene had five grandchildren, Becky Provencio (David), Rick Overdorf (Jackie), Miquela Blizzard (Chris), Meredith Autio (Nick), Murphy Slease, and ten great-grandchildren, Fayth Harwell, Alaura Blizzard, Aiden Overdorf, Ryeler Blizzard, Ethan Overdorf, Bently Provencio, Avery Overdorf, Cartier Provencio, Mia Autio, and Royce Provencio. She also had many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

Verlene was very devoted to her faith and the Catholic Church. She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish in Santa Fe, New Mexico for 60 years. She devoted countless hours over those years to the Altar Society. She made many friends through her Church and the Casa Solana neighborhood she lived in for those 60 years.

Verlene enjoyed being with her family, especially the special times at Christmas, Thanksgiving and Easter when she cooked her famous turkey meals. Most special to Verlene were her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was most relaxed and carefree when with them.

We will miss her greatly.

Rosary will be recited Monday, April 16, 2018, 6:00 p.m., at FRENCH – Wyoming. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, April 17, 2018, 1:00 p.m., at Risen Savior Catholic Community, 7701 Wyoming Blvd. NE. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
