Velma Lea Wood

Velma Lea Wood 97, affectionately known as “Granny” was called home to join her heavenly Father, Tuesday December 19, 2023. Velma was born on April 11, 1926, in Ada, Oklahoma to Heber and Annie Myers, this is where she met and married her husband of 65 years Clifford B. Wood who died in 2008.

Velma was a very successful business woman and an accomplished pilot who flew her plane across country in the Powder Puff Derby in 1960. She owned and operated Sun State Plumbing Co., Inc. for many years until her retirement. She also loved to sew, crochet and do needlepoint.

Velma was preceded in death by her husband Clifford B. Wood, she is survived by her daughter Joyce Cox, her grandson Jimmey Cox and his wife Cathy Cox, her great granddaughters, Darla Cox, Jamie Cox, Krystal Wehrs and her husband Drake Wehrs.

Velma was also blessed with five Great, Great Grandchildren, Sophie Hernandez, Allyn Glasgow, Brooks, Trace and Kallie Wehrs.

Although time took her body, her soul now lives with our Lord and will forever live in the hearts of those who loved her dearly.
