Val March, 89, our beloved mother, left this world on Thursday, November 19, 2015 to join her husband Willard, who previously passed away in December 2010. As she did everything in life, Val passed in her sleep with dignity and grace.
Val was born January 16, 1926 in Lincoln, Nebraska. She spent her childhood in the midwest but particularly cherished the summers she spent with her grandparents on their farm near Chapman, NE. Val attended the University of New Mexico majoring in Journalism. She and Willard met through the world of ham radio as Val's father and Willard were both ham radio operators. They were married on April 5, 1947. Val was a remarkable, loving mother but was still able to have a successful career as a realtor in both Albuquerque and Pagosa Springs, CO. It was near Pagosa Springs that she and Willard built their wonderful Colorado home.
Val is survived by her son, Doug and his wife Sue; her daughter, Heidi Harville and her husband Don; her brother, Dean Pickett and his wife Cindy; her beloved Boston Terrier, Wendy; and her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom she loved very much.
Enough cannot be said to thank her caregivers from Home Instead, Gloria, Debra, Rebecca and Felicia. You won our hearts!!
Val requested no services when she passed. As she deeply loved her pets throughout her life, if you would like, make a donation to your favorite animal charity. Please remember any special moments you shared with her. The family will be gathering next summer near Pagosa Springs to celebrate her life.
