De Vargas, Urban J. "Indio" Age 67, a resident of Albuquerque since 1981, went to be with the Lord, Tuesday, August 12, 2014. Indio was born and raised in Chimayo. He is survived by his daughters, Barbara A. De Vargas and Donna Salazar; son, Michael Salazar; grandchildren, Brian De Vargas, Brandon De Vargas, and Kimberly De Vargas; parents, Able and Alexadrina De Vargas; sister, Nancy Martinez and husband, Norris; brothers, Able De Vargas Jr. and wife, Olivia, Toby De Vargas and wife, Dorothy, Bobby De Vargas and friend, Maria, Randy De Vargas, and Raymond De Vargas and partner, Christine; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Mr. De Vargas was preceded in death by his brother, Freddy De Vargas; nephews, Isaiah Apodaca and Arthur "Tonk" Duran; and niece, Baby Regina De Vargas. Indio served in the US Army during Vietnam. He worked for many years at his father's business, Abe's Produce - first in Chimayo and later in Albuquerque. He loved to go to the horse races. Indio's life will be celebrated on Friday, August 15, 2014, 10:00 a.m., at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 1900 Edith Blvd. NE. Interment will follow. Pallbearers will be Toby Sr., Bobby Sr., Randy Sr., Raymond, and Able III De Vargas, and Norris Martinez. Honorary pallbearers will be Nancy Martinez and Able Jr., Brian, Brandon, and Kimberly De Vargas.
