Tyler Thomas Merkel, 14, of Albuquerque, died suddenly, Wednesday, January 6, 2016. He is survived by his father and mother, Patrick Merkel and Karin Medina; his biological mother, Haley Merkel; his brothers, Christopher and Jacob Merkel; step-brother, Noah Kittleson; step-sisters, Hannah and Faith Kittleson; his grandparents, Hon. Thomas F. and Susan J. Nuss, Paulette Higgins, Danny and Cathy Zubia, Jose and Valerie Medina; his great-grandfather; Raymond Fuentes; as well as many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Tyler has been an Eldorado Eagle since he was six years old. His love of football transcended the game itself, his coaches and teammates were like a second family to him. Tyler was a huge Norte Dame fan. He was always able to bring a smile and laughter to anyone he was around, his family will miss that the most. His dog Dozer was his sidekick and is missing him dearly.
Friends and family are invited to a visitation on Tuesday, January 12, 2016 from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at FRENCH - Wyoming. Services will be held on Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Stephens United Methodist Church, 4601 Juan Tabo Blvd. NE. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
