Toyoko Nakada Ashford

Age 80, a resident of Albuquerque since 1969, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 2, 2014, in Glendale, AZ, with family by her side. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Ashford. Toyoko loved to travel and bowl. Watching her grandchildren compete and perform brought her great joy. Toyoko will be mourned by many. Her kind heart, gentle soul, and beautiful smile made a lasting impression on every life she touched. Toyoko was a pioneer member of the Soka Gakkai International Buddhists in New Mexico. She is survived by her children, Michael Ashford of Albuquerque, Kristy Nakamura and husband, Glenn of Glendale, AZ, and Kenneth Ashford of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Henry Almeter, Emily Ashford, Chase Nakamura, Elisa Ashford, and Cole Nakamura. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2014, at 10:00 a.m., at FRENCH - University. A private interment will follow at a later date at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
