In loving memory of Tony Ray Garcia, who passed away on Wednesday, November 16, 2022, at the age of 67. Tony was born in Roswell, NM on November 10, 1955, to Mary Agnes "Willie" Jimenez. He was legally adopted and raised by his grandparents: Augustine and Jesusita "Jessie" Garcia. He was the devoted husband of Martha Garcia, and proud father of Dominic Garcia (wife Hannah), Matthew Garcia, and Jacob Garcia (wife Shantal). He was happiest when he was with his grandchildren: Nickolas Garcia, Sophie Garcia, and Nate Garcia. He will be missed by all who were lucky enough to meet him.
Tony was warmhearted, genuine, and protective of those closest to him. He worked tirelessly to ensure his family was given the tools to succeed and progress. He was proud to work hard, and he instilled the same work ethic in his children. He faced all challenges with courage, determination, and preparation. His courage shone brightest through his 20 years with the Roswell Fire Department. He retired as Lieutenant and was respected by all who worked with him. He also had a lawn care business that he ran for 18 years.
After retiring and moving to Albuquerque, Tony's hobbies included: landscaping his own yard, and watching his favorite pro teams: the Lakers, 49ers, and Giants. He also enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren play sports year-round, and rarely missed a game. Anyone who knew Tony knew that he was a proud and loving father, husband, and grandfather.
In addition to his wife, children, grandchildren and mother, Tony is survived by his siblings: Tom "Tubby" Garcia, Eddie Garcia and wife Ramona, Virginia Lopez and husband Ray, Valerie Estrada, Hector Lujan and wife Sylvia, Tommy "Tombo" Lujan and wife Darlene, Angela Vegara and husband Joey, Margaret Martinez, Theresa Regalado, Susan Canales, and Laurie Escobedo; as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends that he called family.
Tony was preceded in death by his father, Margarito Nunez, and grandparents; his brother, Lionel Garcia, and sister, Dolores "Dody" Vasquez.
