Tommy Dennis Hughes

Tommy D. Hughes, age 69, passed away September 4, 2015. He was born in Sherman, TX to Jack Aubrey and Dorothy Hughes on April 29, 1946. He graduated from high school in Wichita Falls, TX and graduated from Austin College in Sherman, TX. After serving in the Navy in Vietnam, he moved to Albuquerque and attended the UNM Law School. He practiced law until he moved to Santa Fe in 1983 to be the Director of the Securities Division where he helped rewrite the New Mexico securities law. He then moved back to Albuquerque were he continued to practice law specializing in securities. He was the bond attorney for Bernalillo County for twenty years. He was preceded in death by his father, Jack and is survived by his mother, Dorothy of Albuquerque; his wife, Panda Townsend of Albuquerque; his step-son, Gary Kidd of Las Cruces; his sister, Janice Moncla and husband, Gary of Beaumont, TX; his nephew, Richard Holbert and wife, Jen; three nieces and a nephew of Clinton, MS; and his beloved cat, Honeygirl. Tommy D. loved scotch, football, and traveling. He asked that memorials be directed to the Albuquerque Rescue Mission. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
