Tomasita "Tommie" Rodriguez, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, entered into eternal life on Friday, May 3, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones.
Tommie was born on February 5, 1941, to Valerio and Barbara Montoya in Albuquerque, NM. She was the youngest of four children. Her brothers Robert "Bobby" and Raymond, and her sister, Clorinda.
Her life changed when she met Jose "Joe" Antonio Rodriguez and, after about a year of dating, married August 20, 1966. Together they became the parents to daughters, Yolanda and LaVern. They were married for over 53 years before his death in 2019.
Besides being a wife and homemaker, Tommie was also a crossing guard for 25 years and once retired, the blessing of her grandchild, Jose provided a new focus. Her family and friends will remember her kind soul, loving heart and thoughtfulness. Her comments and advice came with a no-nonsense attitude but always from a place of love. These are the qualities that made her truly special to all who knew her. She was always quick to recount family history and shared wonderful colorful stories with enthusiasm and pride. She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers, sister, and husband. She is survived by her daughters, Yolanda (Steve), LaVern; her grandson, Jose (Joenetta); great-grandson, Daemon; as well as many nieces, nephews, and godchildren. The family is comforted in knowing that she is at peace, reunited with her loved ones, and continues to pray for everyone she cared about just as she always has.
The Rosary will be recited on Monday, May 20, 2024, at 6:30 p.m., at FRENCH - University, with viewing beginning at 5:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, 10:00 a.m., at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 619 Copper Ave. NW, with burial at 1:00 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
