Tomacita Maria (Madrid) Gutierrez

Tomacita (Tommie) Gutierrez, 92, passed away on Saturday, February 23, 2019 after a short illness. She was born in 1926 on her family’s ranch near Santa Rosa, NM. While growing up learning lifelong skills needed for a working ranch, she developed her strong work ethic. Tommie moved to Albuquerque in 1950 with her growing family. All of her endeavors encompassed a strong sense of commitment to do her best whether working as a cook/baker at APS/UNM or mowing her own lawn at 91. Tomacita, the beloved Matriarch of the Gutierrez family,is greatly loved and will be greatly missed. She is survived by five of her seven children, Dennis and wife, Patti, Andres, Theresa and husband, Jimmi, Joey and wife, Mary Dale and wife, Maddie, and Laurie wife of deceased son, Tommy. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Mariano Ramon (MR); infant son, John; and beloved son, Tommy (Raymond). Tommie was blessed to see her family continue to grow with thirteen grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. Her life included many more than just her immediate family: aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, too numerous to count, members of families associated with her children and grandchildren as well as co-workers and students. She welcomed all with open arms.

A Rosary will be recited on Friday, March 1, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. at FRENCH - University with visitation beginning at 6:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, March 2, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Entombment will follow at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
