Tin Har Kwan, 96, of Kaiping, Guangdong, China, passed away on January 21, 2025, surrounded by loving family.
Tin was born July 14, 1929 in Kaiping, Guangdong, China, the son of Zeyu Kwan and Hui Ming.
Tin joined The Royal Hong Kong Police in 1949, and served until honorably discharged in 1974. Tin received the Colonial Police Long Service Medal in 1967. Tin also wrote a successful horse racing analysis column that garnered a large fan base. The Tin Har Morning Post was named after his column when he retired.
Tin married Yuet Bing [Hon] on 1962 in Hong Kong. Tin and Yuet were married for 48 years till her passing on June 27 2010.
Tin especially loved gardening, cooking, watching his favorite football team the 49ers, and watching Chinese opera. In his younger years he enjoyed hosting family and friends at his vacation home in Taiwan for holidays and vacations.
Tin immigrated to the United States with his wife in 1994. Tin was a member of Albuquerque Chinese Baptist Church.
Remaining to cherish Tin's memory are children, Kwan Wai Hei (Ip Oi); Kwan Shuk Yee (Chan Shing Pui); Kwan Shuk Wah, Kwan Wai Kuen (Gregoria Gonzalez); Kwan Shuk Mei; Kwan Suk Ling Maggie; Kwan Shuk Yin (Tam Lam Bing). grandchildren, Kwan Sui Chong, Chan Tak Chi, Chan Tak Yu, Yu Chun Yin (Deng Guoxian), Yu Chun Hin, Kwan Sui Yen, Yau Gah Yen, Yau Gah Sing, Patricia Wong, Vanessa Wong, Tam Chun Kit, Tam Lok Yee; great-grandchildren, Winston Lee, Yu Man Hei, Chao Tsz Yu, Yu Chin Yuet.
Preceding Tin in death are spouse, Yuet Bing; son in law, Yau Chuan Shu, grandchild, Yu Wing Han.
Funeral services will be held February 8, 2025 at 10:00 am at French Mortuary on Wyoming, with Pastor Liew officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
