Thompson "Tom" Hughes Lang

d. December 26, 2015

Thompson "Tom" Hughes Lang beloved brother, father and uncle, peacefully passed away December 26, 2015 at the age of 69. He was born on December 12, 1946 in Albuquerque, NM to proud parents, C. T. and Margaret Lang.

Tom served as the Publisher of the Albuquerque Publishing Co. and Journal Publishing Co. for four decades. He was an accomplished pilot, musician, developer, philanthropist, and devoted father. In addition to his multitude of accomplishments, Tom also flew the company jet to carry reporters and photographers to major news events around the country, including earthquakes, hurricanes, bombings, and the September 11 terrorist attacks.

Business aside, Tom's weekend adventures included flying toy helicopters and kites, star gazing, and taking his kids for dune buggy rides in the sand dunes near the Rio Puerco river bed, which is where he got his nickname, Bug. Bug also loved to water ski into endless summer sunsets on the San Joaquin River in Stockton CA, play the guitar until the wee hours of the morning, deep sea fish in the most exotic tropical regions of the Bahamas, and defy gravity by performing maneuvers such as snaprolls, hammerhead stalls and the like in his various aerobatic airplanes.

He is survived by his younger brother, William "Bill" Pepperday Lang; and twin daughters, Maggie and Brittany Lang. A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, December 31, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Sagebrush Community Church located on 6440 Coors Blvd. NW Albuquerque, NM 87120. Private burial will take place at Fairview Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Albuquerque Bio Park
