Thomas Murray Zander

Thomas Murray Zander, 83, beloved husband, father, brother, and grandfather, was called to his eternal resting place on Sunday, December 1, 2019. He entered this world on Sunday, August 9, 1936, in Blythe, CA, born to Kenneth and Isabel Zander. Thomas married Anne on April 29, 1961, in Brooklyn, NY. They fell in love in the fall of 1960 after Tom was discharged from the Army. They shared a long-distance romance between Brooklyn, NY, Anne's home, and San Diego, CA, Tom's home. Their marriage lasted an astounding 56 years. They spent the first 20 years of their marriage in San Diego, CA, where they had four children. Tom's work then sent his family to Farmington, NM, then to Los Lunas, NM, and then finally to Albuquerque, NM where he would live his final days. Thomas served in the Army from the fall of 1958-fall of 1960. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service for over 30 years in San Diego, CA, Farmington, NM and his last post was as the post-master in Corrales, NM. Tom enjoyed watching the Denver Broncos, and keeping up with politics. He loved camping, gardening, going to the casinos, and spending quality time with his family. Tom was loved very much and will be missed dearly. He is survived by his son, Thomas Zander and wife, Peggy; and daughters, Mary Zander; Helen Quintana and husband, Juan, Linda Adams; sister, Marjorie Jones; and five wonderful grandsons, Jake, Daniel, Gabriel, James, and Matthew Quintana. He was preceded in death by his wife, Anne Zander; brother, Ken Zander; and son-in-law, Douglas Adams. Rosary will be recited Monday, December 9, 2019, at 9:00 a.m., and Mass will follow at 10:00 a.m., both at Immaculate Conception Church. Interment will take place shortly after at Sunset Memorial Park.
