Thomas Miskowicz

Thomas Charles Miskowicz, 85, born June 16, 1939, in Blue Island, IL, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family, on July 30, 2024. Tom graduated from Thornton Township High School in Harvey, IL. He enlisted in the US Air Force and worked in the K-9 unit in the Office of Security Police. After his service, he earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Police Administration from Michigan State University in East Lansing, MI. In 1969, he married Carole (Murawski) and they began their married life in Gaithersburg, MD, while Tom worked for The Atomic Energy Commission. A few years later, they moved to Albuquerque, NM, where he was employed by the Department of Energy and its predecessor agencies, the Energy Research and Development Agency and the AEC. Tom later became the Deputy Director of the Transportation and Safeguards Division. After retirement, he continued to work as a subcontractor for various organizations as a Security Consultant.

Tom enjoyed family vacations traveling all across North America, swimming, and golfing. He was fond of camping trips and time spent with the Albuquerque “gang” of dear friends. Growing up, he vacationed in Eagle River, WI, with his childhood buddies Bussy and Wally and their families, whom he stayed in touch with all these years. Later in life, he valued conversations with his dear neighbors, friends, and co-workers, especially Stu and Randy.

He was preceded in death by his father, Frank, his mother, Helen, and his sisters, Barbara and Christine (Jim) Baczynski. He is survived by his loving wife, Carole, son, Michael, daughter, Kimberly (Jeff Hantman, son-in-law), brother-in-law, Jim, nephews, Brian and Tim, and their families. 

The family would like to thank Presbyterian Healthcare At-Home hospice program, Visiting Angels for their special care and support through this journey, and Father Charles from Risen Savior Church. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to any Alzheimer’s organization or charity of your choice. Funeral services will be held at Risen Savior Catholic Community Church on Thursday, September 5, 2024 at 9:30 am. Tom will be interred at the Gate of Heaven Mausoleum, where a military service with military honors will be held.
