Thomas McKenna

December 8, 1965 — July 25, 2012

Thomas E. McKenna, 46, of Albuquerque, NM, passed away on July 25, 2012. He is survived by his wife, Frances; his three AWESOME boys, Jayden (9), Kian (7), and Owen (2); his parents, Dr. Tim and Pat McKenna; his grandmother, Agnes Gagnon; his four siblings, Todd McKenna, his wife Susan, their four children and seven grandchildren; Kim Addison, her husband Danny and their three children; Kathy Terrill, her husband Steve and their three children; and Dr. Joe McKenna, his wife Laura and their four children; his mother-in-law Gloria Sanchez; his sister-in-law Alicia Kirson, her husband Ed; his brother-in-law TJ, Christina and their son, Ethan.
Thomas was born on December 8, 1965. He was married on July 18, 1994 in Albuquerque, NM. Throughout his younger years, he worked in restaurants as a bartender and food server while going to college. He moved to Los Angeles, CA shortly after where he received his Bachelor of Science degree from California State University, Los Angeles. He then proceeded and received his Master of Business Administration from Loyola Marymount University. He worked in the IT Department of HLHZ for four years. While living in Los Angeles for 6 and a half years, he loved riding his bike and rollerblading on the beach with his wife. He was an avid traveler. He and his wife visited Europe multiple times and traveled throughout the United States. They also enjoyed going to NFL games and following the sport. After he received his MBA, he moved to San Francisco where he worked at Accenture for four years. While in San Francisco, he gave us two of his three greatest gifts, Jayden and Kian. He and his wife decided to move home to Albuquerque, NM to raise their children with family where he worked for Justice Systems, Inc. for 7 and a half years. While in Albuquerque, he gave us his third greatest gift, Owen. At this time, his two older children became of age to play sports, and this became Thomas' world. From the time Jayden and Kian began playing sports, he was actively involved coaching them in baseball, soccer, and basketball. His world revolved around their sports and school activities. He also loved swimming, riding bikes, skiing, camping, hiking (with Owen on his back), and taking the boys to the lazy river.
Thomas will always be remembered for being dedicated to his family, being the GREATEST Dad and husband, the most thoughtful son and brother, and loyal friend to all. He will be truly missed and forever in our hearts. WE LOVE YOU!
A Memorial Service will be held at French -Westside Chapel on Saturday, July 28, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, Thomas' wish was for donations to be made to the Foundation for Ichthyosis at 2616 North Broad Street, Colmar, PN 18915 or to the National Brain Tumor Society at 124 Watertown Street, Suite 2D, Watertown, MA 02472.
The family would like to thank Justice Systems, Inc., PNM Resources, and their loving family and friends for their unfailing support during Thomas' extended illness.
