Thomas M. Hubbard

September 23, 1937 — May 29, 2017

Thomas “Tom” Hubbard was called by his Lord and Savior to his eternal home on May 29th, 2017. He fought a courageous battle with dementia. He was born September 23, 1937 in Corning, New York to Donald and Lavina Hubbard.
Tom grew up in Addison, New York. During this time he spent many hours and years as a Boy Scout. He did obtain the highest honor, he was an Eagle Scout which made his family very proud. Tom graduated from Addison Center High School. He attended Broom Community Tech in Binghamton, New York and obtained an associate’s degree. He met Marlyn at Tarantelli’s Restaurant and they married in 1959. They moved west to New Mexico in 1961 where he began work for the Melloy brothers. After 17 years with the Melloys, he and his lifelong friend, David Nokes, started Japanese Car Care. He owned this shop until he and Marlyn retired in 1998. He worked as an automotive mechanic his entire life. He raced cars and was a private airplane pilot, spending many years with the Confederate/Commemorative Air Force. He flew and owned many planes including several WWII planes and a plane he built in his garage. He was active in many churches and was a lay minster. He spent his retirement years in Sherman, Denison and Pottsboro, Texas were he enjoyed fishing and being on Lake Texoma.
Tom is survived by his wife of 58 years, Marlyn; son David and his wife Carla, their children Cary, Elliot and Evan; daughter Patsi and her son Dale. Tom is survived by this siblings, Bob and his wife Connie and Eddie and his wife Debbie.  He has many nieces and nephews he loved. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, and sisters, Marlene and Donna.

The family wishes to express gratitude to everyone at Palmilla Senior Living, The Retreat and Hospice De La Luz in Rio Rancho for all their care and friendship during Tom’s remaining months of life.

A celebration of life will be held Monday, June 5, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at FRENCH – Westside.
