Thomas F. Herman, Jr., age 93, passed away Saturday, September 14, 2024 at 2:48am at Presbyterian in Albuquerque, NM. He was born March 20, 1931 in Herrick, SD. Tom has been a resident of Albuquerque since 1974.
Tom was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He is preceded in death by his wife, Guadalupe Perusquia Herman and infant daughter Olivia Herman. He is survived by his three children: Alice Vandevender, Steve Herman and Yolanda (John) Jones; his grandchildren Carrie (Jonathan) Purse, Marc Montoya, Nolan Montoya, and Rikki Montoya (Steven Tillotson), along with great-grandchildren Naomi Cordero, Daisha, Donovan and Devon Purse, and Elyus Montoya-Johnson.
Tom was in the United States Air Force during the 1950s stationed in Laredo, TX and Sidi Slimane, Morocco and then worked for the Bureau of Indian Affairs (both in SD and NM) for 25 years before retiring at the young age of 55. He enjoyed pheasant hunting and fishing. He was also an avid reader of Westerns.
His unconditional love and support are the pillars of his family's strength. His legacy of kindness and compassion will continue to guide us through life's journey. While his absence will be deeply felt, his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and love him.

A memorial service will take place at FRENCH-Wyoming on Wednesday, October 16, 2024 at 9:30 am followed by a reception. Burial will be at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 2:30 pm located at 501 North Guadalupe St., Santa Fe, NM 87501.
