Tommy Ray Barber, age 13, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, died Wednesday, February 15, 2017. He is survived by his parents, Mike and Mary Barber of Albuquerque; grandparents, Lonnie and Doris Barber of Flora Vista, NM; uncles, Raymond Barber and wife, Lorie, Captain Thomas Dean Barber and wife, Tina, David Hellwig, and Keith Hellwig and wife, Susan; aunts, Londa Hanson and husband, Chuck, Rae Lynn McNeil and husband, Glenn, Dr. Beth Hellwig, and Karen Hankinson and husband, Bob; many cousins and other relatives; and many, many friends. Tommy was preceded in death by his grandparents, Frank and Shirley Hellwig, and Linda Anders.
He was born in 2003 at Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque and was in the 7th grade at Grant Middle School. Tommy was an amazing artist at a young age and loved art. He was an avid tennis player with the Grant Tennis Team as well as Tennis for Futures. He was a people person who could talk to anyone and made many friends. Tommy loved technology and thought he might make a career in it. He was a loving son, grandson, nephew, cousin and friend and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, February 22, 2017, 1:00 p.m. at FRENCH - Lomas. A reception will follow. Private interment will take place at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery.
