Therold Soriano Gatan was a beloved son, brother, uncle, and great-uncle. The sixth child out of nine to Marcos and Pacita Gatan, he was born on June 12, 1961 in Manila, Philippines. He came to the United States April 15, 1975.
After he graduated from Manzano High School on May 30, 1978, he attended T-VI, now known as CCNM, and earned a certificate in Auto Collision and Repair. Later on, he enlisted in the Air Force on August 15, 1984. In the summer of 1997, he moved to Arizona and enrolled at Arizona Automotive Institute, to further his studies, and received a certificate in Auto Mechanics. After completing the program he moved back to Albuquerque to work.
Therold was a great cook, like our mother, and always gave her the credit when he was complimented on his cooking by family, workers, and friends, alike. He took good care of our mother until her passing.
Therold is survived by his siblings, May, Fe, Myrna (Merlin), Richard (Erlinda), Marylou, Clarence (Lisa), Hazel, and Willie; four half-brothers; one half-sister; nephews and nieces.
He will always live on in our hearts, remembering his kindness, generosity, bear hugs, and infectious laugh. We love you very much, our Idoy!!
