Theresa Nelson

On Sunday, March 7, 2021 Theresa P. Nelson, beloved family member passed away at the age of 81.

Theresa was born August 2, 1939 to Cyril and Anna Parkhurst. She graduated from Albuquerque High School in 1957. After graduation she attended a local business college. After attending business college, Theresa went on to work with the Bureau of Indian Affairs. While raising her children, Theresa worked for the Archdiocese of Santa Fe, the Bernalillo County District Attorney and retired from the U.S. Attorney's office in 2004.

She met, and married Paul D. Piersol in February of 1960. They raised 5 children - 2 sons, Brian and Russell (wife Mary Jean), and three daughters, Deborah (Jones), Pamela (husband Justo Quintana), and Susan (Davis). Theresa went on to marry Fred L. Nelson in September of 1975. Theresa has 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Theresa had a passion for religion, and was active in her church, even serving as a deaconess. In her younger years, she was an avid knitter and was semi- successful in teaching the craft to her daughters. Theresa also enjoyed watching the hummingbirds as they gathered at the feeders outside her kitchen windows.

Theresa is preceded in death by Cyril, Anna; step farther, Huel Wiley; Fred, Brian, grandson Brian Jr. and Kenneth W. Vigil the "Love of Her Life". She is survived by her brother Phillip Parkhurst and sister Claire Bailey, her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made in her name to: Watermelon Mountain Ranch Rescue, Vested Interest in K9s, ASPCA, Wounded Warriors, or any animal rights/rescue organization of your choice.

Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, March 27, 2021.
