Theresa Lucero

Theresa Lucero, 77, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother was called to her eternal home in heaven on Saturday, May 13, 2023. She entered this world on January 9, 1946, in Mountainair, NM, born to Alberto and Emma Serna.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Pete and Eloy; sister, Sofia, and her son, Vincent Lucero. She is survived by her husband, Filadelfio (Phil) Lucero; daughter, Veronica Chavez (Ben Chavez); son, Edward Lucero (Ruby Mora); son, Robert Lucero (Edward Mendoza); grandchildren, Rachael Baca, Isaiah Chavez, Joshuah Chavez (Samantha Chavez); and great- grandchildren, Aubrey and Abraham Baca.

Theresa’s faith was paramount in her life. Her devotion and love for God was radiant for all of us to see. Next to God, Theresa’s family was the most important. First and foremost was her husband, of sixty-one years, along with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Theresa’s gift and talent for cooking was an expression of her love that brought family and friends together. In addition to raising her family and working in the home, she diligently worked side by side with her husband in various business ventures throughout the years. Theresa showed us how to live, how to pray, and how to love. In the words of Mother Angelica, who Theresa admired, her “faith is now a reality.”

A Rosary will be recited on Friday, June 9, 2023, at 9:30 a.m. with a Mass to follow at 10:00 a.m., Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, 5311 Phoenix Ave. NE - Albuquerque, NM 87110. A reception, celebrating her life, will take place after the Mass at Saint Francis Xavier Catholic Church. It is located at 820 Broadway SE. The burial will take place at a later date with the immediate family.
