Theodore (Ted) White, 89, loved and liked by all who knew him, passed away October 15, 2015. Ted was a devoted husband and loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather who had retired from a long career as a mathematics teacher. He was born to Lester R. White and Edna E. (Shoemaker) White on October 19, 1925 in Chico, California. As a young boy, his family moved to Mount Vernon, Washington, where he grew up and graduated from high school in 1943. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the US Navy and served from 1943 to 1946. After returning from the service, he earned degrees in mathematics and education. He married his wife, Janet, in 1948. He taught for more than 30 years as an instructor in both the Everett public schools and at Everett Community College. He retired from full-time teaching at Everett Community College in 1981, but continued teaching part-time for several more years. In retirement, he and Janet traveled, spent time with grandchildren, and volunteered. He and his wife relocated from Washington to Albuquerque, NM in 2011.
Ted is survived by his wife, Janet (Van Valkenburg) White; sisters, Elizabeth A. Liston and Edna Mary Flinn; sons William A. White and wife Priscilla (Sam), and son John White and wife Mabel (Lucero); eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He also leaves many other cherished family members and friends.
