SCHETTLER, THEODORE WILLIAM, III Age 76 passed away peacefully at his home of 2 months in Albuquerque, NM, surrounded by his wife and family, on November 3, 2014. Theodore, "Ted", was treasured deeply by his family. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather and great-grandfather. Ted was born in Detroit, MI and grew up in Ohio and Roswell, NM, where his family owned a cattle ranch. Ted spent most of his adult life in Las Cruces, NM before his recent move to Albuquerque. Ted loved being a cowboy, wearing his cowboy hat and telling stories about his childhood on the ranch, which he considered one of his favorite places on earth. Ted graduated from the Babson Institute, now Babson College, in 1958 with a degree in Finance and trained as a Security Analyst. Ted was known for his quick wit and financial wizardry. Even in illness, he continued to aggressively follow and study the stock and investment markets. Ted had many friends and colleagues and was greatly respected by those who knew him while he served his community and State for over 25 years as an Associate Superintendent and Administrator of Finance for the Las Cruces Public School District. Ted helped to establish and write the New Mexico Retiree Health Care plan for the State of New Mexico. Ted served in the Kiwanis and Lion's clubs of Las Cruces and was also instrumental in helping to establish the first Whole Enchilada Fiesta. Ted was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore W. Schettler, Jr., and Viola Mennecke Schettler. He was lovingly cared for throughout his life by his devoted wife of 36 years, Ruth. He is survived by Ruth; his brother, Stanley (Mary); sisters, Christine Crouse (Steve) and Eleanore Schulz (Bruce); and children, Ann Schettler (Michael), Sandra Payne (Jimmy) and Michael Roybal (Lilia). Ted had six grandchildren, whom he lovingly adored, Alisa Albert (Dave), Bradley and Matthew Duncan (Amanda), Dallin and Mitchell Payne, Miguel Roybal-Monzo. Ted also treasured his two great-grandchildren, David Anthony Albert and Ryan Belle Duncan. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of, or in Ted's name, to the New Mexico Boys and Girls Ranch. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
