Age 103, passed away February 16, 2014. Thelma, a 15 year cancer survivor, was born January 10, 1911 in Poughkeepsie, New York. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis H. Wilson, Jr. and parents, Charles Robert Thomas and Leola Le Fevre Henderson Thomas. Thelma is survived by her brother, Harold Le Fevre Thomas, age 99, of Harlem, NY; daughter, Pamela Jane Wilson Gooden of Albuquerque; grandsons, Bhira McClain. of Albuquerque and David Wilson McClain (Nillani Thomas) of Jersey City, NJ; great-granddaughters, Sathya, Dawn, Alexis, Miela, Kerah and great-great-grandson, Kaiden. A registered nurse, she was graduated from the Harlem Hospital School of Nursing, NY in 1936. She earned the Bachelors and Masters degrees in Nursing Administration from New York University. In 1972, Thelma retired as an assistant superintendent from Queens General Hospital in Flushing, NY. Thelma and Lewis relocated to Hertford, NC where she was named the Volunteer of the Year. In 1981, Thelma and Lewis moved to Albuquerque to be closer to family. In 1982, she became a member of the Cathedral of St. John. She served as a member of the Albuquerque Library Board, volunteered for St. Joseph's Hospital, UNICEF Gift Shop, the Alzheimers Association of NM and the Albuquerque Public Schools. Thelma was a member of the Rio Grande Jazz Society. A Memorial Service will be held On Friday March 7, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at The Cathedral Church of St. John, 318 Silver Ave. SW, Albuquerque, NM 87103. Burial will take place at Santa Fe National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested in Thelma's memory to the Sickle Cell Council of New Mexico, 1330 San Pedro Dr. NE, Ste. 201A, Albuquerque, NM 87110.
