Allene Snyder, 90, a life-long resident of New Mexico passed away in her home December 21, 2018, after an extended illness. She was born October 14, 1928 in Venus (now Edgewood), New Mexico to Charlie and Effie Madole. She moved with her family to Albuquerque in 1940 where she attended Albuquerque High School and graduated in 1946. During a lengthy career Allene worked at the Phone Company, Sandia Labs and Rustco Enterprises before finally retiring. It was while working at Sandia Labs that she met and married her husband of 50 years, Malcolm Snyder, in 1954 and together they raised three wonderful children. Allene was a member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority where she made many dear friends. She was a talented artist and enjoyed reading, traveling, crafts, gardening and her backyard turtles.
Allene was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Wayne Madole; husband, Malcolm Snyder; and son, Michael Snyder. She is survived by her daughters, Laura Bowman (husband Mike) and Teri Johnson (husband Mike); grandsons, Byron Kroner, Cody Johnson, Troy Johnson; sisters, Gladys Hinds and Charlotte Clay; cousin, Ray Caster; and many nieces.
The family would like to thank Jenny, Sherrie and Davery of Legacy Hospice for their compassionate care and her many kind neighbors.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Thursday, December 27, 2018, 2:00 p.m., at FRENCH – Lomas. Friends may visit beginning at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made to the NM Cancer Society.
