Texas Jo Boling, 88, our beloved family member and neighborhood gardener, passed away on March 7th, 2024. She was born in 1935 in Mount Vernon, Illinois to Elsie and John Hughes. In 1953, she graduated from Albuquerque High School in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Jo continued to pursue her education and received her BS in Physical Therapy in 1959 from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. After graduating, Jo worked as a Physical Therapist at Lovelace Hospital in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She celebrated 54 years happily married to her husband, Harkey Boling. Jo was known for her spunky personality, freshly jarred apple butter, and bountiful garden. She loved visiting her Colorado cabin and taking her family to Disneyland. Jo also enjoyed sewing, traveling, visiting with family, a good book, and shopping. She is survived by her daughter, Laura Lahr, and two grandchildren, Sandra Auterson and Emma Lahr. She is also survived by her two siblings, Garry Hughes and Sue Mendez. Jo lives on within the hearts of many nieces, nephews, neighbors, and friends.
Celebration of life will be held on Friday, March 22nd, 2024; Viewing begins at 10:30 a.m., with Service at 11:30 a.m. at FRENCH – University & Lomas, and a reception will immediately follow. An optional Graveside Service will be held at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery at 2:30 p.m.
