Terry Lynette (Unthank) Hertz, first-born and only daughter of (Robert) Mike and Sue Unthank, was born in Albuquerque in 1966, and reborn through Christ in elementary school.
She graduated from Eldorado High School, where she ran track and excelled at Biology and creative writing. Her near-photographic memory gave her ability to excel in music and attended Hardin-Simmons University and Texas Tech University on music scholarships. As a talented violinist, her abilities secured a highly-competitive position with both the Abilene Philharmonic Orchestra and Lubbock Symphony Orchestra.
She gave up her career as an executive assistant at NASA to be a homemaker, raising Austin, Nathan, and Logan Hertz who survive her, and later became a manager in the restaurant and hospitality industry.
Terry loved animals; particularly her dogs, cats, horse, and even rodents, and regularly surprised everyone with a new, stray, four-legged addition desperately in need of a home. Her compassion paired well with her ability to see the good in people, no matter their life-situation or status. She pulled many overlooked people into her life and openly spoke of Jesus and one day being at rest in his presence.
Terry regularly suffered pain and fatigue from fights with cancers and Epstein-Barr, and looked forward to the day or release. Thursday, October 5, 2017 Terry excitedly passed from the shadowlands into the fullness of life with God because of the gracious mercy of the work of Jesus. She is terribly missed here; yet, we who love the Lord are confident we will be reunited in just a short time. She is survived by her parents, children, and brothers, Shawn and David Unthank.
A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held Tuesday, October 10, 2017, 2:00 p.m. at Hoffmantown Church, 8888 Harper Dr. NE, Albuquerque, NM. If you prefer, in lieu of flowers, please feel free to send a donation in Terry Hertz’s name to the Animal Humane Society, Voice of the Martyrs, or Samaritan’s Purse.
