Teresa Sarafina Ortiz-Strogen, affectionately known as Terri, passed away peacefully on October 20, 2024, at the age of 86 in Albuquerque, NM. Born on February 8, 1938, Terri's vivacious spirit touched all aspects of her life from her professional endeavors to her creative passions.
Terri's career spanned various fields, reflecting her adaptable and vibrant nature. She dedicated many years as an Optometrist assistant, where she was appreciated for her meticulous care and friendly demeanor. Earlier in her life, she worked in the food and beverage industry, charming patrons as a waitress and bartender with her infectious smile and attentive service. A lifelong learner, Terri furthered her education at the Technical Vocational Institute, now known as Central New Mexico Community College, where she earned certificates in business management. This education underscored her strong work ethic and her commitment to personal growth. Terri was a creative soul, with talents that ranged from drawing and painting to writing and singing. She also had a green thumb, nurturing her plants with the same love she extended to her family and numerous cats. Her home was a haven for stray cats, which she cared for with compassion. Her faith played a significant role in her life, as she was a member of various Christian Fellowship non-denominational churches. This faith was a source of strength and community for Terri, guiding her through the joys and challenges of life.
Terri leaves behind a legacy of love and resilience. She is survived by her partner, Carl J. Trujillo; her children, Dyanna Ziller, Penny Castillo, and Markie Ortiz (Felisha); sons-in-law, Zane Ziller and Danny Castillo; grandsons, Andrew, Phillip, David, Jason, Johnny, Ethan, Xavier, and Dominic; and numerous nieces, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her daughter Katherine Strogen, grandson Ethan Castillo, ex-husband Ronald Strogen, siblings Carrie Mitchell, Phyllis Torres, Paul Romero, Becky Benavidez, her mother, Adela Delara, and her father Abedon Romero. Memorial services will be held on November 6, 2024, at French Funeral Homes in Albuquerque, NM, with viewing from 9:00 am to 10:00 am, followed by a prayer service from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. Burial will take place at Mt. Calvary Cemetery around 11:30 am located at 1900 Edith Blvd. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87102
