Teresa Castrillo was taken home by our Lord on Monday, March 2, 2020. She was born in Silver City, NM in 1930, during the great depression. Having contracted polio at an early age, she knew the hardships of poverty and the daily struggles of limited physical mobility. With the loving devotion of her beloved sister Petra and family, she carved out a working career as a secretary to a local judge and later, in the medical records department of the Fort Bayard Hospital. She did so at a time when there were many obstacles and few compensations for her physical challenges. Teresa’s tenacity, intelligence, and perseverance helped her overcome the many hurdles she encountered throughout her life. Teresa was all about family. She was inseparable from her cherished sister Petra, until her passing two years ago. She dearly loved her many nephews, nieces, grandnephews and grandnieces. Teresa reveled in family gatherings and her absence will be keenly felt. Her family will be consoled in the knowledge that she is at last unbounded from her constraints. Teresa was preceded in death by her sister, Petra Andazola; her brother, Camilo Castrillo; and nephew, Robert Castrillo.
