Tammie Kay (McKenna) McKenna

Tami Kay McKenna, age 64, of New Mexico, formerly of Pocahontas, IA, passed away on Tuesday, February 14, 2023.

Tami Kay McKenna was born Monday, December 15, 1958, to Richard and Katherine (Peterson) McKenna. Tami attended grade school in Livermore, then graduated from Sac City High School in 1977. Following graduation, she worked at historic Eldorado and Rainbow Casinos in Henderson, Nevada. In 1991, she moved to Manson, Iowa and worked at a local diner. Tami moved to Pocahontas in 1997, where she worked at local gas stations and Dollar General. Over the past several years, her declining health prevented her from working. She lived in New Mexico for the last few years. Tragically, she broke her femur and 4 weeks later was released into the arms of Jesus at Presbyterian Hospital ICU in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Tami was a past member of St. Thomas Catholic Church in Manson and later a member of a Christian non-denomination church. She loved her dogs, Vikings Football, music, and spending time with family. She enjoyed Facebook, daytime TV, watching the WWE, and talking on the phone. Tami especially loved FaceTime with her grandkids. Tami was fun-loving and kind. She will be missed by so many.

Survivors include her children, Andrew (Terri) McKenna of California and Jennifer (Ryan) Cooke of Columbia, SC; grandchildren, Pryce, Gabryella, Josslyn, Jovey and Sylas Cooke of Columbia, SC; and a brother, Duane McKenna.

Tami was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Karen Schoon; and a brother, Thomas McKenna.
